I got a new MBP and it's from 2006. I wiped the hard drive clear with my install disk for Leopard. Then I updated everything, but I didn't have the apple apps.

So I used the install discs that came with it (privately sold, by the way), and installed the 06 applications (ilife). This garageband has that 3.0 4 update.

The thing is, my friend has this garageband that is 08 but has LESS software instruments.
Mine has MORE

How does this make sense..?

I plan on using garageband a lot.

the one with the garageband 08 on a macbook has checked software updates and doesn't seem to have the amount of software instruments as i do..

Do you have Jam Packs?

I haven't noticed any missing instruments on '08. All my songs import just fine. If anything there's more instruments.
