Older iMac - upgrade to Lion or stick with SL?

I have an iMac 5,1 (2 GHz Core 2 Duo) with 3 GB of RAM running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. While it should be technically possible to upgrade this computer to Lion, the question I have is whether Lion will run OK on it. Any ideas? Has anybody tried Lion on an older iMac, and if so, how was the performance?

I realize some features like AirDrop may not work, but are there any other "gotchas" that I should be aware of?
