2015 macbook using last update it could Monterey 12.7.6. It can't use messages I am told due to ckv. One of the criteria for CKV is having an up to date operating system. Is there a way to fix or work around this issue and if so how do you do it? Thank you!

What does it say exactly?
If everything works but messages it's likely something to do with the profile. Is it managed by IT or for school or something like that as it looks like admin restrictions if it's just that?
Try going to profiles and seeing if there are any restrictions on communication or admin restrictions

That is not the reason. Messages work on my 2015 MacBook Pro on El Capitan. I have no clue what CKV is but that’s not the reason.

You may need to switch off Contact Key Verification for iMessages in your iCloud settings, as if switched on then all devices using iMessage on your account have to be capable of it (and guessing that version isn't).
