I looked at some OLED laptop displays yesterday at Best Buy. A 2.8K Lenovo Yoga 9i and an HP Envy. Both had the exact same problem. Uniform regions, especially white, jump out with a “rainbowy” mesh/screen overlay effect. They looked absolutely terrible.
I would take my MacBook Air M1 display any day over these.
What I’m wondering is will Apple solve this problem in time to have good looking iPad / MacBook displays?
I googled this issue and found other people talking about it on Lenovo forums:
Is this the kind of visual problem that only bothers a certain portion of the population? It was just so glaring to me that I’m honestly shocked that PC manufacturers are selling these displays…
