I hope this is really true! I cannot wait to laugh off on those crazy people who think 1ghz-1.5 ghz processor can handle the resolution that is beyond 1080P on 10 inch tablet! Good bye reading ipad outside. It is going to get worse. Also, no one says ever anything about those android phones with OLED, so why are you all crying about OLED on iPad? Stop whining and you will not get retina display on iPad 2. As first gen iPad owner, I am going to wait iPad 3 or 4. Come to iPad, OLED.

Um....

1) Where did you see that? The store on the front page specifically stated that it is NOT coming to the iPad 2. OLED doesn't use backlighting and they were reporting that the backlight supplier had been sourced.

2) OLED is nice (thinner, less power) but has NOTHING to do with resolution and driving that resolution with a graphics chip.

Shhh, The last commercial OLED i saw was that Sony 11" TV that was 2000$
I doubt a 9.7" Display (alone, without hardware) can be made for less than 500$... I'm still hoping for the Unicorn Powder-based processor, an A4 Chip just sucks..

Then apple can increase the price little higher! Price match those expensive android tablets.

800$ 16GB iPad for an OLED? nah, also, OLED's die faster and they don't do it at once but they loose colors and people do want to read on it, although I'd rather get a 150$ Kindle than make my eyes bleed with a backlit display

Why would they price it higher? When they're already stealing the market with the lowest price???

Kid, you're making zero sense.....

Turn the brightness all the way down.
And then you've got no contrast during the day and it will still make your eyes bleed in the dark after some time, It's not the same as an eReader.
It's a tablet, not a reader, It's really nice for Illustrated stuff like Magazines but that's it

It would be a kindness to put qualifiers in your Title subject. When you make a declarative statement of fact as your title, and then the first sentence of the first post makes it clear that this is merely a wished-for future event for you, it's misleading.

You make it seem to the casual reader that OLED is coming. You don't know that, you merely wish it were so. Therefore your subject line is misleading.

Why do people even make threads like this?

And why do I even bother replying to them?

In the words of Greg Dulli:

"Why do people watch car wrecks? Cause its fun to watch people die".

Speaking of how long computer screens last before they die; how may hours does an iPad screen last before kicking the bucket? Just a general inquiry.

Red text on black backgrond, turn the backlight down to 15%.

Way better then a e-ink screen that can't be read in the dark without leaving the light on.

You mean you have to have a light on to read? God forbid...
