Has the apple watch got the coating? I swear as days pass my watch face is more and more smudgedy. I can was my hands thoroughly and as soon as I touch the screen of the apple watch it is smudgey? It's like there is no oleophobic coating present at all.

Anyone else have this issue?

Well, even if there is an oleophobic coating which I'm not sure of, your finger prints still wouldn't disappear when you touch the watch face, would they?

In my experience, the coating (on iPhone, iPad e.g.) fails pretty quickly with frequent use.

the coating would only help rub off prints super easy. It wont prevent them. if its hard to wipe off, then there's no coating or the coating is almost gone

Water beads up and rolls off it just fine and it only takes a few quick rubs to get all the prints off.

I have noticed that I used to be able to wipe off prints with the back of my hand. Now it just smears it further

I have noticed the same, its definitely not as good as the coating on the iPhone, 1 quick wipe on my sleeve clears the iPhone screen but the sapphire screen takes more rubbing to clear the fingerprints. Seems to be the same as the sapphire on the home button, its takes a bit more of a wipe than the screen to clear.

I have a rectangle Mark in the middle of my screen. Appears to be the coating. When I clean it, it is not visible, but as soon as I use the watch, the rectangle appears. Photo will not show it. Anyone else have this issue?

Oleophobic coating may be a plus or minus because of the black screen which makes everything more visible.

Yes. My coating scratched yet the sapphire screen didn't therefore making the sapphire screen pointless as my screen still had a scratch in it. You may as well just buy the sport model. The SS model is a complete con.

Just apply a little alcohol on the surface of the watch over a few days. The coating should be gone fairly quickly.
