ok, it’s the middle of the night and my entire home is freaking out on HomeKit. I think it’s the geofence feature that is doing it. The house has put the i’m Home automation on multiple times over the course of the last 15 minutes. I kept hitting Good Night and hopefully not waking up my 5 year old. I finally had to delete the I’m Home scene. What is iOS 11 doing with HomeKit? Why are the vendors constantly having geofencing problems all of the sudden?

Ok, so I re-setup the I’m Home Scene. It might be the automation for when I have it triggering which is when anyone comes back to the house. The problem is definitely with the GPS since I seem to lose GPS signal on my iPhone 7 Plus from time to time. I also can’t find any help section on Apple’s website for HomeKit items. Apple should really address this going forward if they are going to expand HomeKit and we have a lot more users. When Apple Support wakes up today I’ll put in a ticket to see what is going on. For the meantime I have switched the I’m Home scene to trigger when the 1st person arrives back at home. With close to 100 HomeKit devices in the house, the unreliability of a single component can be a major issue.

Use Home.app's geofencing and disable geofencing for the devices app. Or vice versa. Whichever but dont use both.

For example you don't want to have the light set to come on when you get home from the Hue.app AND Home.app.

Personally I've found Apples geofencing to be more reliable so all my HomeKit accessories native apps geofencing is disabled.
