OMG! Hidden M1 Boot Mode...

I knew it was there but not how to get to it. Apparently it's hidden in the Data partition, according to another eclectic light write up.

I think Apple has done an excellent job of creating a multiple failsafe for reinstalling the OS. And the 2 different boot options highlight the overall mindset of Apple with the new Macs, in my option.

I had no problem booting into 'resiliency' mode.

I have a M1 MBA. My Mac mini is 2018 so, I can't test to see if I can boot into 'resiliency' mode.

Yep, you need to have around 1 second between both clicks, but not longer.

I wonder if this mode would work better than Recovery for installs...

Not according to Howard at eclecticlight. Recovery mode is for reinstalling the OS. Fallback recovery is exactly what its name says, a fallback method just in case recovery fails.

Well "Recovery" has always failed for me. I don't even use it anymore....

Did you know Time Machine has a secret mode too? If you command-control-click on restore then your system will be restored from a future back up. All your work will be complete and you will have macOS 15 😛

You need a 5D hard drive to make it work though.
