Ok Im shocked but also surprised
I got the Wonderful program Starwalk for ipod touch
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVlwfdVnhWc

Wifi Was turned Off both on Ipod touch and on the router
I start starwalk and it ask me if i want to give permision to read my location
to better setup starwalk for the stargazing

I was shocked to find my Exact, yea i mean Exact Cordinates
like N 25.24 E 52.22 (just an example) something you find in Google earth
as you know this cordinates is not unique for Cities around the world but also for places within the city

The damn thing tracked it all the way To my street
and all without having Wifi enabled and the router had wifi disabled.

How is this possible if it dosnt have a GPS chip?

a bit scary but also amazing technology that is

I am thinking if there is any other thing i can use this Tracking for
without being conected to Wifi by router

maybe that way we can track our ipods if they get stolen ?

this is intressing

Try for youself and see

Yowzer!!!! It must be magic!

No, what is happening is that the last time you let an app use your location with wifi on this value was set in memory. Star Walk is just using the stored value. If you doubt this go to another location and with wifi off let it use your location again. You will find that it still thinks your at home.;)
