OMG the clear case is super clear!

3 people asked me today why i carry my iPhone naked! I almost bought a case forgetting i already bought the clear one. Big shout out to Rene Ritchie for choosing the Apple Clear case as the pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly show. It is the best $39 i ever spent. Rene mentioned that they used some special chemical to make it clearer.

It’s pretty shocking how clear it is. I’ve seen a lot of disgruntled folks over the price tag, and I mean, yes there are cheaper options for a clear case. But If Apple has found a way to protect it from yellowing (which they surely spent a chunk of R&D on), and with how truly truly clear it is, it’s worth the $40.

If this doesn’t get dirty /yellow after a few months it may be worth it - same price as buying the $10 spigens every month.

My Apple clear case got a small crack in it this morning when taking on/off to clean. Pretty sure that’s got to be an issue with the TPU/Polycabonate blend. I like that the case has sturdiness because of the material blend, but I think it may be prone to cracking if one is not careful.

No. Polycarbonate tends to not yellow. TPU tends to yellow.

I have a feeling only the buttons will yellow as that seems 100% TPU. The side and back feels completely plastic which wouldn’t yellow.

It took some getting use to, but I am really enjoying my clear case now. Always been an apple leather case person, but thought I give the clear case a try. It was a bit slippery at first, but after getting my hand oils on it, it seems much better. Button were also stiff at first, but seem to be breaking in. Really enjoying being able to see the back of the phone for a change.

As said by others, it seems a little slippery at first but it gets better. I'm not a case person, but I kind of like this one. Naked is better, but I don't want to risk it.

Thanks for the pics. Looks really nice. I always get the Apple leather cases, but would like to see the midnight green. Does the case stay clean on the outside, like no fingerprints, smudges or do you have to to wipe it a lot?

It is kind of a fingerprint magnet, but that's the case (no pun lol) with all gloss clear cases.
If you really don't want fingerprints to show, you should look at a 'frosted' clear case, but those wont show you the true color of the phone.

Thanks for the pics, was getting ready to pull the trigger on it as I got a cheap silicon case. Its ok but not a clear looking as I like. The minute you put it in case the green looks silver. I would love to use naked but dang its still a very slippery phone.

To be honest I'm returning mine, I don't like how the buttons feel when you press them, kinda hard....

comparing to the leather cases the buttons press a lot easier

Mine is scratched already. And yes.... smudges... not fingerprints.. but smudge lines from your fingers....

The case is definitely a fingerprint magnet. It’s sturdy and feels better quality than ones I have gotten from amazon. Mine is already scratched though in less than 24 hours and I have been careful with it. I know these cases are prone to scratching, but this case isn’t cheap and I would expect it to last longer than that. Other than that, I love the feel of it

Yes - got mine yesterday too and it is a smudge magnet. Plus, the midnight green back looks more gray with the case. The case is also slippery. Will be sticking to my Apple leather case or just get Applecare and go naked.....
