i'll post when i get home...is that written on the box or on the base of the unit? i'm guessing it's on the box as the only number on the PB is a model number :)

Congrats on your purchase! My rev. A 12" PowerBook is starting to show its age; I'll be upgrading to a rev. A Intel PowerBook, hopefully the 15". How is the "new" screen? Glad to hear you don't have any of the lines. I trust it's crisp and a little "larger" due to the extra pixels?

the screen is so awesome. i've come from a 1.33 12" PB, so the keyboard is also different. i am really really happy with it. like i said, i'm so glad i went mac :)

For what reason should he post the serial number of his PB.

That is absurd, no one should need to know this besides the owner and Apple

Do not post the serial number of your machine in a public forum.

yeah i recently learned not to :)

figured he just wanted the prefix because there was a bad batch or something....didnt realise naughtiness was afoot!!! :(;)

I'm happy to hear that someone is happy about their purchase. It was wise of you to ask around before deciding, and the 15" is a very good model. The 17 would be my preference, but 15 is very nice and mroe than adequate for msot people (I jsut love large screens, so that's why I'd prefer the 17.)

Congrats on your purchase! May it live long and prosper!

Some tips to keep it healthy:

Don't drop it.
Don't borrow it
Don't let someone else hold it
Don't set it on the ledge of your balcony, even for a second.
Don't forget it ont he roof of your car
Don't drink anything near it.
Don't eat anything near it
And don't let your cat run over the keys or the PB itself when its closed.

:D

Congratulations! It looks like you got a completely maxed out machine. Hope you enjoy it!

That's close enough. Please don't ask people to post a serial number and please don't ask for it in a PM. I know it's not software but we don't need to give anyone a reason/way to take advantage of the situation.

um...

he's not asking for the entire serial number... he wants the prefix to determine if it is the W84 lot or the W85, since nearly all of us with w84 lot have the lines. i thought everyone had looked at the lines thread by now, lol. we've been tossing around serial prefixes for about four weeks now.

but yes, don't ever post your entire serial number. although it would be helpful to know if the new batch is good, since then those with the defect can know that we may ACTUALLY get our PB fixed by applecare.. some of us sent them in and got the exact same thing in return, but if there is a new batch that is good to go, then there is hope.

CONGRATS on the sweet machine, i don't think you will ever enjoy a computer more than an apple machine. It takes on a whole new role in your life. it becomes MORE than a computer as silly as that sounds. who else buys quilted covers and such for their monitors and laptops, etc... lol. enjoy!
