So my 5S is on 7.1.2 because I never heard good things about iOS 8.
I was planning to stay on 7.1.2 until 9.0 dropped (or 9.1 perhaps) to see if promised stability/speed improvements materialised.
However, I've just encountered my first app that will no longer run on iOS 7 and I'm worried that 9.0 will be an even bigger dud for the 5S than 8.x was.
Just wondering if those of you who're on 8.4 would have stayed on 7.1.2 if you had your time again?
If 9.0 is a bigger dud I but I don't update now I will eventually have no choice but to skip 8.4 and accept 9.x.
Thoughts anyone?

8.4 is running fine (speed, response, bug wise) on my 5s and iPad mini2 (retina).
I did have a few more resprings/random reboots since iOS8.3 and 8.4 on my iPad mini2 though (see also this topic).

I did keep my (former now from my mum) iPhone 4s running on iOS7.1.2 because of speed performance.

I don't know if you updated or not, but if you haven't, I'd suggest updating to 8.4.1 rather than 9.0 as it is laggy and awful on the 5s.

8.4.1 is silky smooth. You'll like it.

Thanks mate. I checked out 8.4.1 on a few 5Ss in stores today and they all looked similar (speed/keyboard/app opening) to my 7.1.2 so I guess there isn't much of a penalty to 8.4.1.
Other benefit of iOS 8 is I think I can remain on iTunes 11 for a while longer. iTunes 12 doesn't appeal and ios 9 requires it.
