On receiving your MBP's, did you guys just switch it on? I am a little worried about the battery. Should I charge it first, until full? Or even still, is there a need to worry about the memory effect on these batteries

According to Apple calibrating document, I should charge it to full first.

Any thoughts?

I plugged in and booted up within a couple minutes of pulling mine out of the box. That was on Friday and I currently have a battery, which started with a 4600mAh rating, that has increased to a 4680's-4720's mAh rating. On that first charge I calibrated the battery. So far so good. :)

The manual tells you to have the AC Adapter in for your first boot, although mine was around 80% charged when I got it. Just plug it in, hit the power button, wait about 30 seconds, and enjoy the welcome video.
