On iPhone 3GS running iOS4 - MobileMe deleted, but keep getting "Sync Failed" pop up!

Hello more technically savvy Mac users!

I keep getting this pop up on my iPhone 3GS (running iOS4) that says "MobileMe Sync Failed".

I am no longer a MobileMe subscriber, as of a few months ago, and I don't want MobileMe to try to sync over the air.

I have deleted MobileMe from my accounts list in my iPhone as well, but that doesn't seem to have stopped this very persistent pop-up...

Any ideas how I can make this pop up go away?

I've been having the exact same issue with my iPhone. I actually tried to delete the account from my phone and ended up losing all my contacts and some other information. Good thing we can back things up >.<

I plan on visiting apple today. I will post back with anything I find out.
