On new M1 MacBook Pro's - Touch ID better

HI all, for owners of a new MacBook Pro - have you noticed any change in the Touch ID? I have always found it spotty on my 2019 MacBook Pro, at times it does really good and then it stops working - like it learned how not to recognize my print or something lol - I have not found the key to making it work better - I have used one print, multiple, washed hands, wipe before use, it's just inconsistent. I am hoping the new MacBook Pro's Touch ID works better? What's your experience? Thanks!

Touch ID definitely is better on the new one compared to my 2019 16" b/c the button has changed. There's a nice divot to help guide your index finger. It unlocks instantly.

Yes I concur with @Jl006p. I just got my 16", upgrading from a 2018 15". I wouldn't say it's faster but it's easier to use and you actually feel like you're scanning your whole fingerprint unlike the last iteration where you weren't quite sure. It's also matte textured like the keys of the keyboard. Size wise, it is comparable to the home button on older iPhones.

Works great while the MBP 2021 is UNPLUGGED from power. But if you're plugged into power, it won't work. A few other threads here. Really big issue, likely electrical.

That's interesting. I have since gotten my MacBook Pro 2021 16", and the Touch ID works very well for me!

Yup, I used to hate how slow it was on my 2018 MBP, but on the Apple Silicon 16" it's really fast and I love it!
