iOS on Property Lists, SQLite, and updates

Hi!

I was wondering if the only data I wanted to store in my program is strings, integers, and booleans, is there a difference between using property lists or the SQLite databases?

Also, I heard that some programs, when updated, kept the user data, yet some programs did not. How does this work?
