I thought my 11” was defective as even when I hit the keyboard drop button, it would not drop the on screen keyboard. Only way to close the keyboard was the swipe right. I thought it was just something I had to live with.

Today I realized that it was software related as my new Mini did the same thing. Does not happen all the time but often enough. Guess we are hoping to another update.

Just wondering if others are seeing the same.

Yes, I see this all the time, in particular safari while browsing the forum. It is quite awkward but I sometimes don’t want to refresh because of a long reply, even though refreshing pages does push the keyboard away.

Having the same problem as you right now as I'm typing this.

Sorry but glad to hear it was not a hardware problem. Been having this problem on my 11" every once in a while but when I saw my Mini has the same issue, I was sure it was a glitch in the OS.

I have not noticed it happening on my MAX as of yet.

Thanks for letting us know!

I have been experiencing this running the latest release of iOS 12 on my 12.9 Pro.

Selecting a text field on-screen seems to re-enable the close button, in my experience.
