On screen wake use last app seems to have disappeared

Trying to make messages the default app when I wake my Apple Watch and the option to use last app on screen wake doesn’t seem to be an option anymore , despite me googling it and various sites suggesting it should be there

Am I missing something ?

there are separate options for every app, if you check your watch app, go to General and Swipe down and tap on Wake Screen. Here you can configure every app on how to behave.

hmm this might be the worst answer ever.

I don't have that option anymore and as George Dawes says, various sites suggest it should be there.
