Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Not sure how battery wise it can be good if 3G stays on when you have wifi on
 
I only have the little 3g symbol at the top when Im not of wifi. I have turned it off when I am at my house for an extended time and I noticed no difference. I imagine the wifi kind of overrules the 3g even when it is on though.
