On the subject of CPU temp

With 24" cinema display my 2.2 quadcore MBP 2011 runs 50+ CPU temp.
Unplugged it backs down to low 30's.

No apps running
All celcius. Should it increase by this much?

Well the tech at my Mac store ordered a new logic board. He wasn't happy with the temp increase.

when on external monitor it forces the ATI chip on, which causes the heating up.
