There are times when I press the power button, the white light turns on, the hard drive turns on, and the screen stays black for like 10 seconds. Then finally, the tone and screen with the Apple image and all. I have this 13" MBP since October of 2009. Still works fine it's just that once in a while it does this. Most of the time the screen doesn't stay black for too long while starting up.

If it only happens intermittently and the wait is only about 10 seconds, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sometimes the Mac will take a little longer to boot up if you have installed new software or run Software Update before shutting down/restarting. Unless it becomes normal for long boots (and starts getting noticeably longer), I wouldn't be too worried about it.
