What is the function of the clipboard in mac os x, as i am really new to Mac, can someone give me some explanation about that?

The Clipboard provides the storage for the objects that you Copy or Cut from the Edit menu in MacOS and MacOS X applications. When you Paste an object into a document, it is pasted from the Clipboard.
