Hi,
Trying to fix a friends email problem.
He is on lion using mac mail.
Has a corporate email address, a gmail address, and an aol address
coming to his Mail client.
Recently, the corporate email would get the checking for mail spinning ball of death when it would check for email.
This would cause delays for the other email addresses when they try to check and would seem to clog the entire mail client.
He is able to login to his host webmail client and everything seems to be working out on that end. The email host has recently changed their webmail interface.
I disabled the corporate email in preferences, reboot Mail and all other email addresses would check for their mail lickety-split. Enabled the bad account and once again, spinning ball of email death.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks
update:
though i don't have access to his laptop this minute, i logged into his webmail and found in his sent messages box 2 copies of an email that was 24MB a piece. This really really really stuck out to me as I got essentially the same spinning ball of death while waiting for the sent box to load.
I'm thinking deleting the 24MB files out of the sent items will solve this problem, but ... i won't know why.
Is mail talking with the email server and syncing files between the client sent box and the host sent box and thus spinning forever trying to work the 24MB file?
Do I have to make sure they are deleted in the proper order? (client then host or host then client?)
thanks
