One email won't delete permanently

I looked in the mail forum but there were just 2 year old posts in there. Well anyway I have this one email that I had sent to my grandson and his reply in the same email that won't permanently delete. It keeps coming back to me. I clicked on edit and selected "cut" and it disappears for a day or so, then keeps showing up again. It's just that one email from 5/8/14. I use AOL mail and he replies from an Android cell phone. I never had the problem before with his emails. It either shows up in the sent folder or the trash folder again.Any idea or suggestions to why this is happening? Everything else works fine.
