I know this has been done to death, and I like to google things first and learn myself, but I keep finding conflicting information....

Is it possible to have one external hard drive partitioned to FAT32 and HFS+ (Time Machine), so that I can transfer files between Mac and Windows when I need to, and also use it as a Time Machine backup disk?

I don't want to buy two external hard drives.

Thanks.

You should be able to create 2 partitions to allow what you want to happen. Just go into Disk Utility and create a primary partition with HFS+ and then create a secondary partition with FAT32.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B179 Safari/7534.48.3)

Cheers mate. It works perfectly!
