i just bought my wife her first Mac the 20" iMac. decent little setup, glossy screen now looks ok after a hardcore calibration.

here's my issue. i have a 24" white iMac- previous version. we have a linksys router. she's new to Mac so forgets to close apps out entirely which i guess should be a non issue but, isn't. she will constantly leave her internet connection (via safari) open and walks away and eventually her iMac goes to sleep. if i walk in to launch my browser while her internet connection is open while her iMac is sleeping, safari just bounces away with no launch. however, i i walk over to her desk and wake her iMac up, then my safari session immediately starts.

is there a simple network setting i am overlooking here?

thanks in advance.
