Whoops.

Hmm...I'm not sure. I usually just right-click and select "open in new tab."

Lol.. I know Apple+click works too, but as stupid as it sounds, thats an inconvenience.

In FF, I can just click on a link and it opens in a tab.. wishing for the same thing. =)

SafariStand has an option that allows you to enable this, plus many other tweaks that you might find useful ;)

EDIT: Just thought I should mention that the option you'll need to enable for this, will be labelled "Open '_blank' Link in New Tab" in the General section in SafariStand preferences.

I am completely striking out setting up Safari Stand..
ugh nothing is going right tonight.

I made the directory /Library/InputManagers/ and put the Safari Stand folder in there, nothing.

Installed SIMBL, put the folder in /Lib/App Suppt/SIMBL/Plugins, nothing either.

In a word, no.

This is my #1 annoyance with Safari. I want single-window browsing, with the exception of requested popups. I too understand that I can control how it opens. The problem lies with surprise new windows... Those are the ones that keep me using Firefox.

Some people have had good luck with SafariStand. I did not.

Command-click on links to open them in tabs.

I have said this already, that I am aware of the command+click.
I don't want to have to take that extra step.

I want to be able to click on a hyperlink and have it automatically open in a new tab instead of a new window.

safari's tab functions aren't as good as firefox/opera's. But this single window-mode is doable, you need to install a plugin called "safaristand" you can google it
