Im looking at creating a server that can perform backups of all PCs in my house (Windows and Mac) and can also take iTunes libraries and store them then stream them to HTPCs and other media devices on the network. Also it would be good for a remote login to access files over the net.

I think a setup would be:
2x1TB RAID 1 - Backups
2x500GB RAID 1 - Media
2x100GB RAID 1 - Documents
2x40GB RAID 1 - Operating System

So im looking at a pretty self reliant system that can take backups from any computers on the network and recieve / stream files too - specifically iTunes backups and home sharing - and also a TVersity server for my xbox360.

I think windows is the best choice here as mac seems to be able to read to it, but if windows wouldnt work would osx work instead? Obviously i would be buying a new copy of either operating system (or server OS if thatd be more suitable) so.. yeah. What do you think? Is it possible?
