I have an unlocked iPhone (original) that will accept any SIM card I put into it, except one - mine. I tried a replacement SIM, but still nothing. I've tried countless restores and reset factory settings. An Apple Genius told me it must a problem with AT&T.

Now, I am using an adapter for the SIM from my 4S but that doesn't appear to be a factor - other microsims from other 4S iPhones work fine. So it seems that any SIM that has my phone number on it will not work. AT&T says it's because of the adapter and that there aren't any issues with my account. But of course it's not the adapter because other microsims work.

I'm no technician but how can it not be a problem with my account/number somehow? Has anyone ever encountered this before?
