I have used a blackberry since i was 12 years old, and one of my favorite features of it is that status indicator. I constantly realize i have messages or calls without having to even touch my phone. Why wouldn't the iphone feature something similar? its such a small thing to ask for, I wonder if it'd be an easy mod? Share thoughts on this.

For me , it's not really a big deal. I'm always looking at my phone and if I'm not it's in my pocket where you wouldn't be able to see an indicator anyway.

Apple is against visual & tone notifications. They want you to always have it in your hand and checking it. That's good ol' free advertisement.

See i'm just the opposite because my phone is next to me on my nightstand. I would get annoyed looking at that blinking light when trying to go to sleep.

Not a big deal for me either but I wonder if they could write a software upgrade to use the flash LED for that?
