The retina display is POLARIZING LENS PROOF!!! What it means is if you wore polarizing sun glasses the display is visible at ANY orientation, instead of blacking out if you don't look at it from the right angle. NEATO!!
 
nice. I get that when I'm wearing my sunglasses as well, but I still need to wait for the white iPhone to experience it first hand

That's not necessarily specific to the hi res display. It's more a function of the glass.
 
There seems to be some sensitivity to polarization -- I'm seeing a slight drop-off in intensity and color shift when I turn the phone to the horizontal. It doesn't make the display unusable in that orientation, though.
