Hi all, I have a 2016 MacBook Pro with touchbar, just over two years old, just putpof wwarranty.Battery life has been atrocious since I bought it.

I was unable to turn it on last week, and resetting the SMC (SHIFT/CONTROL/OPTION) made no difference. I took it to a store, they said they opened it up and reset the power management manually. It worked for a few charges, now I am unable to turn it on again, and again, resting the SMC hasn't helped.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide to manually reset power management myself (so I don't need to pay a store again)? And how can I stop this happening in future.

Cheers.

I have a 2016 MBP that occasionally won't power-up when I press the power button. To get around it, I press and hold the power button for 10+ seconds, release it, then press the power button again to turn it on. Once and a while I have to do it twice.

Don't think the problem is battery related because my battery life is and has always been excellent.

A coworker has a 2017 that has these problems. He has brought it in twice for them - one recently. I don't know the outcome of that. He brought it in for a video issue last year and they replaced a bunch of things in it. He's using his personal Mac while his work Mac is in the shop.
