It looks like Apple has set up its online order system to allow people to pick up iPads at retail stores.

Purchase online from 10:00pm-4:00am for pickup the next day. They still appear to be selling them first-come-first-served at the stores.

Interesting - just out of curiosity checked and it shows that 64 white ATT is not available for pickup at 4 out of 5 stores nearest me in DC.

I checked here in NYC, and it appears that the AT&T models are in healthy supply at the 5 Manhattan stores, while the Verizon models are somewhat less available (UWS and 5th Avenue have a decent supply, but Grand Central seems to be short).
