Does the supply that stores have available to walk-in customers match what Apple shows online as being available for in-store pickup? I've seen some stores that never seem to show availability for in-store pickup, but I have a difficult time believing they aren't selling any devices.

No, walk-in and in-store pick up are different. If you go on the istocknow website they state that they're only showing stock for in-store pick up. They don't know what the stock is for walk-ins.

OK. So does anyone know how to determine walkin stock? When I try calling the Delaware Apple store I get bounced to some in Texas who can't answer my question.

When the automated system comes on, say "manager."

It'll take you directly to the store.

They can tell you if they have any at that moment, but they pretty much cannot assure you that they'll have it when you arrive.
