Why do I only get 6 Mb/second download on my 3G according to Speedtest.net? My desktop gets 20Mb/sec.
I have Verizon Fios.
:confused::confused::eek:

i noticed my 3gs does a lot better than my 3g did. 3g would never go much above 6-8 mb whereas the 3gs seems to max out my internet connection which is 20 mb. haven't looked any further into how each device is associating to the ap, but i'm curious if the 3g is connecting at b and the 3gs as g?

Hmmmmm interesting.
Another reason for me to get the 3GS I would suppose.

Because although the iPhone is connecting with Wireless G technology, it is not capable of the full 54 Mbps. Most small devices have the same problem, including the Nintendo DS and DSi. It is usually due to hardware limitations.

TEG

So does the 3GS have better hardware for this then?

This comparison is between the iphone 3g (right) and 3gs (left). I can see that the 3G speed is higher with the 3gs, but they both use the same wireless hardware. So i don't think you will notice a significant difference if you buy 3gS

Could be the physical limitations of the iphones ram/nand? memory.

The iphone uses nand flash right?
