Hello everyone and thanks in advance. Simple question:

Is there a way to only auto-hide the dock when a window is above it?

For example: I browse with large Safari Window -> The dock should auto-hide.
Only Adium is open in the right corner ->The dock should be shown.

Greetings ...

Jep, i know that. I think this feature would be a good improvement.
Thanks anyway.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and I was looking for similar functionality but the more I look, the more it seems this isn't available on mac osx.

It's a pretty standard thing on ubuntu and here's how it works.

This would indeed be a great feature and it works brilliantly for those who like to go fullscreen a lot. Hiding the dock means you have to mouseover wherever the dock is hidden. With 'window dodge', it appears itself when all
windows are clear. Saves moving the mouse over.

I have moved over to mac osx after using linux & windows for many years and although I have only been using it a couple of days, I really miss (a) snap to windows (i.e. drag a window to top of screen and maximizes - to the left or right and goes half screen) and (b) window dodge (from ubuntu).

Sam.
