Soda was spilled on the side of the notebook. It was never powered on. I opened up the notebook and cleaned all the components. Now the MBP only boots into safe mode.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately it may never be the same again. Water can be recovered easily from because there isn't much in it - clean and go. But the sugar in soda will often kill electronics - even with cleaning.

I would try doing an SMC reset (remove battery / power, press and hold the power button for 5-10 seconds). Then I would do a PRAM reset (press and hold CMD + OPT + P + R, hit the power and let it reboot it self 5 times while holding the keys).

Thanks for all the pointers. I will try out the PRAM reset and keep everyone posted.

Best regards,

Rob
