only mac is available on startup when holding option

Hi, I recently installed Windows XP with boot camp and everything works fine, but when I startup my computer and hold option at the right time, only mac is available to select and not XP. Right now, the only way I can restart in XP is if I go to Startup Disk in System Preferences and choose to restart in Windows. How can I fix this? Thanks

I also have had that problem often in the past and I think I held down
the "ON" button too long.
This AM when I tried it---I hit the "ON" then I hit the "alt" and it went
right where it should.
That was the first time ever
