only some movies will sync

i just converted a few of my dvds to mp4 to sync with my ipad.

Some of them sync just fine but some wont.

All movies play in itunes.
The resoltuion of the movies varies, but one of the ones at 1280 sync's over without a problem.

Any ideas what might be preventing some of my movies from syncing but not others. no errors or warnings are given by itunes.
