Only white frames where pictures should be...

After reinstalling my pictures from time machine, all I have are white frames where the pics should be. But if I scroll through the frames, the pics show up for a split second then are gone. How do I get my pics back?

Where do the appear as white frames? Finder or iPhoto? And if Finder, which view have you selected (List View, Column View, Icon View)?

And what Mac OS X version do you run and how did you restore from a backup? Have you restarted since the restoration?
