Hi guys, I know there's already a thread on Onyx, but it didn't really relate to what I'm after.

Just ran Onyx, which took a little while to verify the startup volume, and then told me it needs to be repaired through using the OS X Leopard startup disk in disk utility. If I run this repair, will all of my data be erased?

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry if this is a ridiculous question, but how do I go about repairing the startup disk through disk utility? It says to run OS X from the Leopard disk then Disk Utility, but does this not do a reinstallation and wipe everything?

Insert mac os x dvd and reboot from the dvd.

Once running, select your language.

(Top Tool Bar) Select Open Disk Utility from the Installer menu.

Choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.

Select the name of the hard drive (e.g. Macintosh HD) on the left side of the window and click the First Aid tab if it is not already selected. To check the directory of the disk and attempt repair of any problems found, click the Repair Disk button.
