Is there an add-on of some sort that will give me the ability to quickly open 2 finder windows side by side and sized to fill the screen? I find myself doing operations where I'm dragging files from one window to another window often enough that this would be a time saver.

It's very easy to set the default window size to a shape that is half the screen size. Then just create two new windows and move them.

I do similar -- using Column view, I have two windows that fill half the screen horizontally (i.e. top and bottom, not side by side). They usually stay open, but if they close, then I just open another and drag it in place.

To set the default window size: close all windows. Open a window and size it. Close it. New windows will all be like that one.

Unfortunately, that whole open, resize then close thing has never worked reliably for me. I think I'm going to look at some of these app suggestions. Tabbed finder windows looks interesting.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Forklift will do this. Also an excellent FTP client.
