open dock app with one click, but switch with double click!!!

hello people, i have been experiencing a very irritating problem for a couple of weeks. that is, when i open a program that is on my dock it works perfectly with a single click of the mouse, BUT when i want to switch between windows and spaces i have to double click an icon to go to that program. has someone experienced this also AND solved it? help would be appreciated very much. thnx in advance.

PS: i have a macBook pro of mid 2010. i have reinstalled mac os x once. and i dont use boot camp or duo boot (anymore). thats all.

Did you ever find the solution to this? I also am having the same issue.

do you happen to use "Hyperspaces" or "Adium" applications? I vaguely seem to remember it starting when I installed one of those two apps.
