Open files with URL?

I'm working with a bunch of Windows-users. Sometimes they refer to files that are located on our common server, it may look like this:

Hello!
Check out this file:
G:\Sourcing\Products\DarthVader

Unfortunately this URL doesn't work for me, since I'm a Mac user. It should look like this (sort of):
"/Volumes/Pub/Sourcing/Products/DarthVader"


Question:
Is there an easy way to open or convert URL's like this to my Mac?
