Since upgrading to iOS 13, I’ve had a number of URLs no longer open in the apps that they used to. For example, YouTube and Reddit always opened in Safari on my iPad. The “Open in YouTube“ and ”Open in Reddit” options never showed up when long pressing Youtube and Reddit links in Safari. Both worked on my iPhone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the apps, but that didn’t help.

At some point Reddit started working on my iPad, despite there no being an app update. YouTube still didn’t. On a whim I created a shared shortcut for URLs containing “youtube.com”. After I did that Youtube videos started opening in YouTube and the “Open in YouTube” option reappeared for YouTube links in Safari. Unfortunately YouTube links then started opening in Safari on my iPhone and the option to “Open in YouTube” disappeared. Both had been working fine before that.

Basically the whole “Open in App” is messed up in iOS 13.1.2.

I found this thread on the Apple developer forums which talks about this issue which appears to be a bug, but it sounds like Apple rinks they fixed it already. All I know is that it’s really annoying to have all YouTube links open in Safari.
