"open in new page" slower on iPad than 3rd gen touch?

So I just got an iPad. It's amazing, but is it just me or is holding a link and opening it in a new page slower on the iPad? I've got an iPod touch third gen, and it's quicker when it comes to zooming out and going back in. Is this just me or a well known fact? Or could something be wrong with my ipad hardware? I'm not talking about loading the page, but when it does the little zoom out and zoom in on the pages automatically.
