Opened ads dmg file accidentally.. Help

I have dmg file from ads website in download folder and i accidentally opened the file. It mounted on my desktop like any other software installs. I unmounted it right away.

So my question now is what can really happen if the dmg file is really nasty ads or virus? Can it infect my mac by just double clicking the dmg file and mounted it?

Viruses for Mac don't exist.

Don't worry.

Just delete the dmg, it may not be a virus, but if you run the app, it could be some malware so its better to be safe then sorry so just to remove it.

Actually, they do. They're just not very common.

If you mounted the DMG and unmounted it, without running anything inside it, you're fine.
