Opened box ipad 4

Hello,
I am about to buy my first iPad 4 from BB. It's an opened box item and states as Excellent condition. However, I still want to know what to look for or inspect before paying. I understand Apple will void warranty if the product is water damaged. How do I check for water damage on the iPad 4?

You can't really. There are no external indicator stickers like on the iPhone.

I have been told if you turn on the screen and it looks mottled that's likely due to water. Certainly it would be a reason to not buy regardless of the cause
