Opening Failures both Affinity Photo and Photoshop

I am learning this week that none of my work in Affinity Photo and Photoshop will open any longer. Each app says the file is unrecognized, both Photoshop and Affinity Photo documents.

Is anyone else finding this?

I keep my documents stored in the iCloud desktop folder in Catalina. Is iCloud stripping my docs of identities?
