Opening Keynote files on ipad that are in dropbox

Hello,

I am running an ipad mini 6 that is all up to date. I am a dropbox user and am trying to open my keynote stored in dropbox on my ipad.

I tried it multiple ways:
-on ipad open keynote, navigate to my dropbox file, it shows greyed out with a red minus sign and i can't select the file
-on ipad i open files, navigate to my dropbox files, it shows greyed out with a red minus sign and i can't select the file
-on ipad i open dropbox, i can navigate and view the keynote but animations don't work and it is not suitable for presentation.

I was going to try the stupid manual route of using my mac to copy my keynote file to my icloud, but i can't even find my icloud drive on my mac. i can't stand the way mac handles icloud drive...

any advice?
